Thesis:
Although many believed the war strategies of firebombing and the Atomic Bombs were not humane, they were necessary for the ending of WWII
The atomic bomb is the most powerful bomb ever created, but it is also the most destructive causing the debate of whether or not it should be used in war.
The atomic bomb was the end result of a highly secretive government project to create a bomb that could split an atom to create enough heat and energy to make an explosion equivalent to 14000 TNT going off. The bomb was heavily debated on whether or not it should be used to attack Japan. President Truman believed that he should use every military weapon available to win the war. After debate Truman made the decision the drop the bomb on Japan. Truman's decision was the best for America because it was a vital role in ending WWII.

"Having found the bomb we have used it. We have used it against those who attacked us without warning at Pearl Harbor, against those who have starved and beaten and executed American prisoners of war, against those who have abandoned all pretense of obeying international laws of warfare. We have used it in order to shorten the agony of war, in order to save the lives of thousands and
thousands of young Americans."

thousands of young Americans."

The social, political, and economic growth of the country caused debates on whether or not the war was fought in a humane way.
Social
During World War 2 blacks and women gained rights throughout the progression of the war. Over time construction companies broke down the racial barriers and began hiring blacks because they had a shortage of employees who weren’t fighting in the war. Eventually rights of blacks were expanded to being able to fight in the war it self, one example being the Tuskegee airmen based out of Italy. Women’s rights were also expanded because businesses hired women to do a “mans” job, and eventually the women were also able to fight in the war also.
Political
In the beginning of the war President Franklin D. Roosevelt was in control of the country. As the war begun Roosevelt signed a series of neutrality acts to keep the US out of the war. Eventually America was drawn into war both by Japan and Germany. When Roosevelt died his successor Harry S. Truman inherited the task of lead the country through WWII and into the beginning of the Cold War. During the end of the WWII Truman’s big decision was to drop the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, which caused major controversy of if it was humane or not.
Economic
During WW2 the economy of the country was terrible. It was in a state of deep depression that no one knew how to climb out of. As the war progressed more jobs were needed to manufacture necessities for war, in turn stimulating economic growth and by the end of the war the economy was in a healthy and more humane way of living.
The experience in other hard times gave the US an idea of what they had to do to win the war and restore peace in the world.
US as a World Power
During the Spanish American war, Spain sent troops to Cuba to stop the
rebellion, the Spanish put the rebellious people in reconcentration camps which the America thought was inhumane and the Americans went to Cuba to help the rebellions win against Spanish. In World War 2 the Germans were putting Jews in concentration camps stripping the rights away from them. The US entered the war to fix these inhumane ways and getting the rights back that the Jews deserved.

Progressive Era
In the progressive era the government pushed for the rights of blacks and
women to be expanded. They passed multiple laws giving more freedom to the
blacks and women. The southerners found loop holes in these new bill allowing
blacks to work for free. During WWII blacks began working in jobs that they
otherwise wouldn’t have been able to do, and they also allowed women and blacks
to fight in the war.

World War I
During WWI business leaders needed to hire blacks and women because with all
their employees off fighting in the war there was nobody back home manufacturing
materials and equipment needed to fight in the war. This proved that blacks and
women could do the work of a "man’s job." During WWII the same thing happened
once again proving that they are just as capable as a man as an employee of a
company. This expanded the rights for women and blacks thus making a more humane
work place in America.

Roaring '20s
During the Roaring 20s women were given the right to vote make them more independent, they also began being treated like regular humans which was more humane than how they “only belonged in the house doing house chores” before the 20s. This change was mainly due to the experimentation of the government. During WWII business started hiring women because their full time employees were off fighting in the war. The women on the home front proved to be useful the job market, so once again the norms were adapted for the women to be more able to get hired for a job. These more humane actions stimulated the economy because with more people working they were able make more stuff and faster.
Great Depression and New Deal
The great depression and WWII to are strongly related to each other because ultimately WWII is what brought America out of the great depression by creating tons of jobs in war material manufacturing. During the height of the Great Depression it was not a humane way of living millions of people were living on the streets begging for food and or money to scrape together some change to buy food to feed their families. After WWII started many jobs were needed of manufacture war necessities, which caused almost a job shortage which boosted the economy and the humanity at which people were living.
Because of WWII Americans know what the difference is between inhumane and humane are.
Because of WWII America has become aware of what is humane and what is inhumane. When the government realized how inhumane they were being to the women and blacks they have slowly fix their problems to what we have today. In some states women still don’t get the same pay as men but the humanity of America has progressed a lot in the passed 70 years since WWII.
