The Progressive Era
"The stage is set, the destiny disclosed. It has come about by no plan of our conceiving, but by the hand of God who led us into this way. We cannot turn back. We can only go forward, with lifted eyes and freshened spirit, to follow the vision. It was of this that we dreamed at our birth. America shall in truth show the way. The light streams upon the path ahead, and nowhere else." -Randolph Bourne
The Progressive Era was the first period in American history when more workers labored in factories than on farms. This is also true during World War II, women especially had to step up, get a job, and do their part in the war even if its taking care of their family by themselves. Men had a duty to their country to serve in the War.
60-85 million people died during WWII, that is roughly 2.6% of the worlds population, WWII was the deadliest war in the history of wars. This war took a huge toll on all nations, the United States had a total of 420,000 deaths, where Germany had a total of 7,000,000
to 9,000,000 deaths. Losing that many men to war forced women to take control and do what they ned to do to keep themselves and others well.
