U.S. as a World Power
My first impression if the U.S. was looked at as a world power would be to follow their example of a democracy. but for reasons such as tradition, fear of uprisings, and power other countries have made Dictatorships.

Progressive era: Why did people believe a dictatorship would help progress their country? Dictatorships have strait forward and quick decision making, which seems overall more efficient.
The Home-front: Did Hitler affect the American home-front?
Hitler never affected the home-front, but did declare war on America.

Roaring '20s: Where any of the developments made in the 1920s influential over WWII and the way it was fought?
''In 1922 the Navy developed a radio-controlled battleship that could be used in joint exercises with the army air forces to test aerial bombing attacks on warships traveling at speed while taking evasive measures". Also created the aircraft-carrier.
Radio-controlled battleships let pilots practice as if it was the real thing, which probably helped them reach a greater accuracy and skill level than ever before.

Great depression and new deal: How would the economy be/have been if America hadn't participated in WWII?
By the first years of American involvement in WWII wartime manufacturing facilities had been establishes throughout the nation, creating a tremendous demand for labor. This greatly lowered the unemployment rates.

Significance to Today:
The United Nations was created at the end of WWII; its importance has increased. The UN was created to create peace and help with international conflict. Today it combats terrorism, helps with natural disaster relief, protecting human rights, alleviating hunger and poverty, helping with disease, and protecting the environment.
Some of the lasting social effects of WWII are increasing the roles of women, blacks, and minorities in the job market. It helped to set the scene for the civil rights movement because many African Americans moved out of the South to other places. WWII also helped to increase public awareness of propaganda, genocide, and manipulation on a large scale.
The success of the USA in WWII drastically changed their role as an international leader which still stands today. Before the was the USA was an isolationist country and did not want to get involved in international conflict that did not pertain directly to them. After the war, the USA's economy and military power had increased to one of the top nations in the world. Because of their involvement and success, it lead the USA to become widely involved in military actions around the world including Iraq, Vietnam, Korea, and Afganistan.
There were numerous technological advances during WWII that affected the growth of the world's sciences. Simple computers became widely used by the English and the Americans to attempt to decode messages being send by Germany. Advancements in aircrafts, missiles, and rocketry were used by the USA years later to send humans to space and to the moon. Radar and radio were widely used for the first time during WWII. The atomic bomb both revolutionized warfare and created the foundation for the nuclear power industry. There are many more.
Lastly, before WWII there was not an international system in regards to international war crimes or crimes against humanity. During the Nuremberg Trials, the Allies in the war decided to persecute the Nazis for war crimes. Many were charged and either imprisoned or hanged. This acknowledged the international agreement that just following orders was not acceptable morally, and created a system in which these matters may be dealt with internationally.
