Up until 1954, the US Civil Rights Movement challenged Jim Crow laws in the courts based on
facilities not being equal, but that strategy changed with Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka (1954) when Thurgood Marshall argued that separate facilities were inherently unequal.

Two very important pieces of legislation were passed. First, the Civil Rights Bill that JFK promised to sign was passed into law. The Civil Rights Act banned discrimination based on race and gender in employment and ending segregation in all public facilities. Johnson also signed the omnibus Economic Opportunity Act of 1964. The law created the Office of Economic Opportunity aimed at attacking the roots of American poverty. A Job Corps was established to provide valuable vocational training.

US as a World Power
William Jennings Bryan helped the 16th, 17th, 18th, and 19th Amendments to the Constitution (graduated income
tax, direct election of senators, prohibition of liquor, woman suffrage) which also relates to Money in the 60's and suffrage.

Progressive Era
The period between the late 19th and early 20th centuries represented the nadir of American race relations. Nine-tenths of African Americans lived in the South, and most supported themselves as tenant farmers or sharecroppers. Most southern and border states instituted a legal system of segregation, relegating African Americans to separate schools and other public accommodations. Same as what Lyndon tried with the African Americans and making or creating the Civil Rights Act.

World War I
World War 1 was about 3 years of men being slaughtered but it mostly shows the same as White Americans killing or just slaughtering African Americans, not at this time but Lyndon was trying to give protection the African Americans.

Roaring 20's
The Roaring 20's was more about Equality and it at last let women the right to vote. The 19th Amendment to the Constitution had guaranteed that right in 1920. same as in the 1960's when we were also pushing for equality for African Americans.

Great Depression And New Deal
The great depression had the same struggle with poverty as so did when Lyndon B Johnson. During this decade large numbers of people lived in poverty, desperately in need of more food, clothing, and shelter. Yet the resources that could produce that food, clothing, and shelter were sitting idle, producing nothing.

Current Events
Certainly progress has been made over the intervening forty years in terms of an
overall minimum standard of living as measured by material conditions. And yet
the lived experience of poor people is starkly different from that of
individuals and families who enjoy some degree of economic security as measured
by income levels that pro-vide comfortable, worry-free circumstances. their are still issues with equality like Woman, Gay Rights, Immigration and etc
